[Previously on Bug Reports]

I propose to make jettisoned corpses visible for some short time (at least the same like for containers). Confeds and Militia can turn against us because of detecting a single corpse on our ship's board. Why shouldn't they be angry if we will jettison a corpse near their ship?

Of course such object in space should be detectable (Shift+t) but I propose to make it in one of the three categories:
- human dead body (for Pirates/Retros/Merchant/Hunters),
- Confed/Militia dead body (because they have uniforms; at least Confeds),
- Kilrathi dead body.
I think that Kilrathies' bodies shouldn't make "alert" after scan of our ship (they're enemies, always). Maybe just: "Good job ace... but you should clean it up" for corpses on our ship or "So you cleaned you ship after furballs? Good job pilot!" after for detected jettisoned Kilrathies' corpses.

I know that it's nothing urgent but it could add some "spice" to the game.

I've never gotten busted by "the man" for having cadavers (I always jettison, +they never scan me).
Do they react on kilrathi? What do they say?

That would be a cool effect. I assume that by different corpse types you mean different colors?

I thought that was what blood was supposed to be about... even with a cleaning bot, it still clears only slowly... I'm assuming that blood doesn't go down to well with the scanning party.

Yes, it could work. Faction colors for dead bodies (e.g. dead Kilrathi should look like %).

I think that scanner isn't such precise to detect blood but inspection on board of our ship (during flight or at Shipyard) could tend some authorities to ask a question: "What the hell was going on here!"... Wink

Yeah, blood on board your ship won't have any effect when they scan you. If authorities boarding your ship to more thoroughly inspect it gets implemented, it certainly would be cool if the blood had some effect on that. Maybe when the player got caught he could bribe his way out of trouble... Wink

"Some SOB boarded me an hour ago."
Sorry, having blood/corpses on board doesn't seem to be more of an offense than dented armor or a hole in your shoulder. Unless those corpses are identifiable as non-pirates/non-retros...

Criminal pirates, nutball retros, and blood thirsty kilrathis galore! Yet... having corpses on ships is bad...?

I'm glad I didn't keep that one pirate corpse! I thought maybe there was a place where I could claim a bounty. Happy

Nope. Happy Unless you're on a "kill the target" bounty hunting mission, in which case you just have to destroy their ship. For the live capture bounty hunting mission, you have to capture them live and deliver them to Trou prison base in the Bastille system.

The current issue with the corpses on ships is that the game currently doesn't track what kind of faction the corpse belongs to. I'm implementing this in the near future, so you'll also be able to have person-to-person kill statistics. With this, I can have confeds and militia only react to corpses from merchants, civilians, and other 'friendly' faction corpses.

In the meantime, let's just say it's for hygienic reasons. Yeah, that'll do. Wink

Yeah, I've been busted for having dead guys on board. I forget if it's possible to get in trouble dumping corpses when the authorities aren't in the process of scanning you, though. I don't think so...

No I don't think so either, but dumping stuff while being scanned (or hailed) wont do you any good.

Nope. Or at least not that I've ever seen.

I suppose it makes sense that they would remain in space after you dump them. You could just colour them as a dark grey dot. Not impossible to find again for whatever reason, but it won't be mistaken for anything else.

Yeah, that would be perfect.
